Game Preview:
Like last week’s contest between the Saints and Cardinals, this matchup features two teams with massive injury woes. The Ravens only have Dobbins and Campbell currently designated as out but have some of their best players currently listed as questionable. Andrews is obviously the big one and the worrying thing for Ravens fans is that he hasn’t practiced all week. Lamar’s top target has been managing a niggle in his knee the last couple of weeks and it seems to be getting worse. Rookie TE Isaiah Likely would likely (ehhhh) see more reps if Andrews is out, with the Coastal Carolina product impressing so far this season and in the preseason. For the Bucs, they are also managing some glaring omissions in their role players. Gage, Brate and others are all out, as well as important defensive players, Murphy-Bunting and Winfield. Even with Andrews out, I would say that Tampa Bay will struggle more with their injuries.
Looking at both teams last couple of games, Tampa Bay are definitely in a worse way. Losses to Carolina and Pittsburgh is pretty brutal, but at least they have been away from home. Their last home game was a win against Atlanta, but even that could have been a hot L. Tampa are in real trouble on offence and with some of their role players being out, on a both sides of the ball, it won’t get any easier tonight. The Ravens D is playing much better over the last few weeks and haven’t given up more than 23 points since week 3. But while the defence has been getting better, Lamar and the offence have been slowing up. Lamar has 13 passing touchdowns on the season, but only three over the last few weeks. However, their run game is looking explosive, and Lamar has more rushing yards than the entire Bucs offence. If they could get some of their big passing plays back, they would be a real threat to any team, especially the Bucs.
Verdict and Bet:
Both teams are missing little sparks here and there, but the Ravens seem to have it together a little more. The Bucs missing a couple of defensive pieces is swaying this a little for me as well. This could be a close one, so the Ravens having a point and half on the handicap is a bit of a help too.
Ravens +2, 1 point @ 10/11.
