Week 14 Review & Week 15 Waiver Wire Targets

by | Mar 26, 2022 | NFL

Last Sunday turned out as expected – an absolute belter of an evening. We had monster score lines, multiple overtime thrillers and even another shutout. A wild weekend to say the least, and a strong one for the Bulldog Sports team. The NAP landed and we went 10-3 overall to take the scores to the following:

NAP: 9 – 3.

CURRENT RECORD: 74-83.

Week 14 Top Takeaways:

The 49ers are nice with it when George Kittle plays – George Kittle is a certified playaaa. Over his last two full games, he has 151 and 181 yards receiving, three total touchdowns and 27 targets. His catch at the end of regulation in the game against the Bengals was ridiculous. His connection with Jimmy G is keeping the handsome Italian under centre and adds another dynamic element to their already potent offence, which includes a powerful running back locker room and electric wide receiver corp. Kittle is the heartbeat of the 49ers attack and is undoubtedly key to their playoff aspirations. They are currently in six place in the NFC and well in the Wild Card race. It is unlikely they topple the Cardinals for first place in the NFC West, but I certainly wouldn’t like to be facing them at any stage of the playoffs.

Are the Chiefs really back? – the question keeping me awake at night. Are they really back or is this some fugazi sh*t? They’re currently sitting third in the AFC and first in the AFC West, with a 9-4 record. They blew out the Raiders 48-10 on Sunday night, but is it a bit quick to say that they are back to full strength? The Raiders are throwing their hat in the ring for worst team in the league and have lost five of the last six, conceding an average of 36 points per game. Mahomes had another solid-ish performance (for his standards), throwing for 258 yards and two touchdowns, but Kelce has one touchdown in his last eight games and Hill has been on a dry spell since week 10.

On the positive side of life, Edwards-Helaire was back with a bang against the Raider, logging two touchdowns from ten carries and the Chiefs defence put in another big shift, making leaps and bounds since their early season struggles. While I do think the Chiefs are somewhat back with this new balanced offence and strong defensive unit, I still think the Big Three (Mahomes, Hill, Kelce) will need to be at their peak for Kansas to make another Super Bowl run. The Chiefs meet the Chargers in week 15 TNF, in what looks like a belter of a game.

The Rams needed that MNF victory – The Hollywood stars came out to play in Arizona last night. Three is the lucky number, as Matthew Stafford recorded three passing touchdowns, to go along with Aaron Donald’s three sacks. Stafford connected with Odell and Kupp for touchdowns in the second and third quarter respectively and the superstar QB launched a monstrous bomb to Van Jefferson in the third quarter, to take the game to 20-13. The win keeps LA hot on the heels of Arizona, as they now trail them by one game. The Rams are sitting on 9-4 and are looking good for at least a Wild Card spot.

Tom Brady is the best running QB in the league – good god, did you see the wheels on the young fella, as he bolted for 13 yards and a first down in the first quarter, against Buffalo? At a later point in the game, the 44-year-old also side steps a defender on third and short to bring about a fresh set of downs. Brady is constantly evolving his game and now looks like a serious dual threat QB, inside and outside the pocket…

The Bills are in danger of missing the playoffs – The Bills are in a little bit of hot water, as they fall to the seventh seed in the AFC and the same record as three other teams – 7-6. The Bills are now tied with the Browns, Bengals and Broncos and the playoff pressure is only going to keep piling up over the next three weeks. They have lost four of their last six and face their arch nemesis, New England Patriots, in week 15.

Allen had a big game on Sunday night, recording 308 passing yards, two touchdowns and one INT, to go along with 109 yards and one touchdown on the ground. He led the team back from 27-10 down in the fourth quarter, bringing it to overtime, but unfortunately it wasn’t enough. I’ll give the Bills a pass on this one, but it would really help to get a victory against the Patriots this week, as their schedule really opens up for the remainder of the season.

Dak Prescott needs to sort his sh*t out. Quick. – What the hell happened to Dak Prescott and the Cowboys, on Sunday night? Dallas was 27-8 up going into the fourth quarter and were suddenly fighting for their lives in the dying moments of the game. Prescott had another subpar performance, recording 211 yards passing, one touchdown and one INT. His INT late in the fourth was so uncharacteristic and put them in a lot of bother The good news is, the win has locked up the NFC East for them, but for America’s team to have any shot in the playoffs, number four will have to pull his socks up and get things moving in the right directionBonus Point – do not mock Aaron Rodgers with the belt celebration. Haven’t these players learnt anything over the last year!

Week 14 Waiver Wire Hits:

  • D’onta Foreman: 13.20
  • Saints: 13.00
  • Chuba Hubbard: 9.30

Week 15 Waiver Targets:

To all my fantasy playoff homies, here are the worst waiver targets of the year! Enjoy!

QB

Tua Tagovailoa – this is an easy one. Tua has been playing some really solid stuff over the past few weeks and will look to continue that form here against the Jets. The Jets are the 28th ranked defence against opposing QBs and Tua scored a nice 18.52 points when the two teams met last in week 11. If you need a QB, he’s your man.

RB

Ty Johnson – not the best match-up for Johnson is week 15, but he did play over 70% of snaps in week 14, according to Mike Florio on the Fantasy app. It’s slim pickings, but Johnson is currently the lead back for the Jets, and if you’re even considering him, you’re probably in big trouble already.

Duke Johnson – currently the only healthy RB on the Miami roster, due to a number of COVID absentees. Their other RBs are vaccinated so do have a chance to play in week 15, once they aren’t symptomatic and test negative on two separate occasions, 48 hours apart.

(Can’t even find a suitable image of him in Dolphins gear).

Devin Singletary – writing these names is hurting my soul. Singletary played well against the Bucs on Sunday night, logging 11.90 points. Who knows if he can do the same again against a good Panthers run defence?

WR

Amon-Ra St. Brown – developing a nice connection with Jared Goff. 19.80 and 11.30 points over his last two games.

KJ Osborn – Thielen is out, and Osborn logged a nice 15.80-point performance last week against the Steelers. Nice match-up against Chicago as well.

Rashod Bateman – as soon as I drop him he has his best performance of the year – 13.80 points with back-up QB, Huntley.

Defensive Rankings

  1. Dolphins
  2. Cardinals
  3. Cowboys
  4. 49ers
  5. Bills

Peace out x

J.
