Week 13 Waiver Wire Targets

by | Mar 26, 2022 | Uncategorized

Alright y’all, it’s crunch time in the fantasy season. You could say we are in the witching hour… Two more weeks of the regular season, if you are in a six-team playoff format. The decisions you make over the next few days could define your entire season. I’m sure there is money on the line for a number of you, so I will do my utmost in this article to guide you to the promised land of the fantasy playoffs.

Week 12 Waiver Wire Hits

  • Carson Wentz – 22.34
  • Cedric Wilson – 15.10
  • Darnell Mooney – 15.00
  • Tevin Coleman – 8.00

Week 13 Waiver Wire Targets

As you can imagine, it is slim pickings on the waivers for QBs in week 13. If you didn’t pick up Carson Wentz last week and he is still there, I would go with him as my number one waiver QB for week 13.

QB:

Taylor Heinicke – the Washington QB is actually playing well. He has a gunslinger mentality that gets him into trouble sometimes, but it’s certainly exciting to watch. But excitement is not what you care about when you’re trying to get a fantasy W. Last night against the Seahawks, Heinicke completed 27/35 passes for 223 yards, one TD and one INT. The 11.22 points he finished with is pedestrian enough, but he has had some solid performances against big defensive teams. 20.22, 23.14, 21.88 against the Packers, Panthers and Bills, respectively. Up next for Heinicke is the Raiders, who give up 18.44 points on average to QBs and gave up 26.30 points to Dak Prescott and his second-string receivers, on Thanksgiving. I would feel relatively ok with starting Heinicke in week 13.

RB:
Roll out the back-up running backs in week 13…

Alexander Mattison – the number one waiver running back by an absolute mile this week. Dalvin Cook dislocated his shoulder against the 49ers on Sunday night, which will pave the way for Mattison to play over the next couple of weeks. Mattison can fill Cook’s boots pretty well, when the RB1 is out with injury. The last full game Cook missed was against the Lions in week five and Mattison finished that game with 22.80 points. He looks like Cook, runs like Cook and clocks up points like Cook, and if he was still on my waivers, I wouldn’t think twice about spending huge to get him.

Jamaal Williams – Head Coach, Dan Campbell said it’s ‘hard’ to see DeAndre Swift playing against the Vikings in week 13. Up steps Jamaal Williams. Williams is a productive runner when he is given the chance. He is averaging 4.2 yards per carry in 2021 and should exceed that number against the Vikings, who are currently the 23rd ranked defence against running backs. The Vikings are conceding 25.08 points, on average, to running backs this season and I would expect Williams to get a nice chunk of that this Sunday.

Honourable mention:

Tevin Coleman – after watching the Jets vs Texans match on Sunday night, it’s clear who the Jets RB1 will be going forward, with Michael Carter on IR. Coleman faces a sloppy Eagles run defence on Sunday night, who are allowing 25.29 points, on average, to opposition running backs.

Additional Info:

Panthers are on a bye in week 13, so get ahead of the crowd this week and select Chuba Hubbard at a discounted price.

Chuba Hubbard – McCaffrey is out for the season. Again. Devastating stuff for fans of the game and McCaffrey fantasy owners. McCaffrey also missed weeks 4-8, earlier in the season, and Hubbard was asked to step up to RB1. While Hubbard is no Christian McCaffrey, he certainly did a job for the Panthers and a lot of fantasy teams, averaging 11.64 points over that stretch. Nothing glamourous but definitely useful.

Honourable mention:

Dontrell Hilliard/D’onta Foreman – the Tennessee RBs are on a bye as well, but you might consider picking them up a week early.

WR:

Kendrick Bourne – The Bourne Supremacy was showing in theatres on Sunday night, as the Patriots steam rolled the Titans in Foxborough. Bourne is currently the number one receiver on the Patriots roster, in terms of production and his two-touchdown performance against Tennessee makes him an attractive prospect heading into week 13. The bad news, they face the strong Bills secondary, who are the number two passing defence in the league. The good news (for Patriots fans) is that star Bills CB, Tre’Davious White tore his ACL against the Saints, on Thanksgiving night. He is a huge loss for Buffalo, and their secondary will be a lot weaker with him gone. Bourne has scored 22.10 and 20.60 in two of his last three games and he could be on for a nice week here as well.

Rondale Moore – Moore is averaging a solid 9.77 points for the year and now faces a poor Chicago defence on Sunday night. Per game, Chicago is conceding 36.92 points to the WR position. Before their bye week, the Cardinals played the Seahawks in week 11, where Moore collected 11 balls from 11 targets for 15.30 points. The speedster will look to have a big game against the 25th ranked WR defence on Sunday.

Honourable mention:

N/A.

TE:

Jack Doyle – JD had a monster night against the Bucs on Sunday night, as he logged six of seven targets for 81 yards and a TD. The Bucs are the 26th ranked defence against TEs and in week 13, Doyle and the Colts face the 27th ranked defence, the Texans. Doyle had a slow start to the year but seems to be heating up in recent games. He has three TDs in his last five, and he could log at least another one this coming Sunday against my sorry Texans.

Honourable mention:

CJ Uzomah – he has been bad in recent weeks, but so have the Chargers.

Defence:

49ers – the whole team is on a roll and the defence has certainly stepped up against mediocre teams. The Vikings are a very good offensive team and the Niners defence still scored 7 points on Sunday night. The two weeks previous, they scored 17.00 and 21.00 points against the Jaguars and Rams, respectively. They are currently rostered in 48.0% of leagues and are my number one waiver defence in week 13.

Best of luck x

J.
