Statically, these teams are very evenly matched. Top ten offensive numbers, with good to mediocre defensive numbers. They have already met twice this year, with the away team winning both legs. The Cardinals took home the first meeting 37-20, while the Rams won the second meeting, in week 14, 30-23. Looking back on the first game, Kyler Murray had a big outing, throwing for 268 yards and 2 TDs. The second game he threw for 383 yards and 2 INTs, trying to recover a 27-13 deficit after the third quarter.
The Cards have been struggling down the stretch, losing four of the last five. I really dropped the ball on having them as my NAP last week. Their one win coming against the Cowboys. Injuries have plagued the side, as DeAndre Hopkins, Rondale Moore, James Connor, Chase Edmonds, JJ Watt, and more have been out for extended periods. Having Connor and Edmonds is so important to the Cardinals, but the real X Factor is D-Hop, who was present for the first match-up with the Rams, but not the second, and will miss tonight’s match-up.
Looking at the Rams, they have been shaky down the stretch as well, albeit winning five of their last six. They are edging out the victories, as Stafford has not been at his best. But I like him to pick it up again here. He torched the Cardinals in week 14, throwing for 287 yards and 3 TDs. I also rate Sean McVay far higher than Kliff Kingsbury, especially in a playoff game. Aaron Donald, Von Miller and Jalen Ramsey will dominate on the defensive front and tidy up any loose ends. I love the Rams here. Get after that -3.5.
J.
