This week’s Thursday Night Football takes us up to Lincoln Field where the Tampa Bay Buccaneers take on the Philly Scumbags, sorry the Philadelphia Eagles, in what could be a very interesting game. It could be argued that Brady is playing the best football of his career, as he is leading the league in passing yards (1,767) and only trails Mahomes in the passing TD category (15). Jalen Hurts led the Eagles back from a 15-6 deficit against the Panthers on Sunday night, in an up and down display, to save them from dropping to 1-4. That will give Hurts huge confidence coming into tonight’s game, but this week he faces the GOAT and the bright lights of the prime-time game. Some of the key considerations you may want to look at before tonight’s game are as follows.
Buccaneers:
- The Bucs have the 3rd ranked offence and 15th ranked defence.
- Their passing offence is ranked 1st and rushing offence is ranked 26th.
- On average, the Bucs are scoring 33 points per game and conceding 24.4.
- They are passing for 361.6 yards per game and rushing for 82.0.
- The Bucs defence are allowing 328.2 passing yards per game, but only 45.8 yards rushing.
- According to Fantasy ranks, the Bucs are the 31st ranked defence against WRs and the 13th ranked defence against RBs.
- The Bucs have allowed 275+ passing yards and 2+ pass TD to each starting QB they have faced this season – Dak Prescott, Matt Ryan, Matthew Stafford, Mac Jones, Jacoby Brissett.
- Brady is averaging 353.4 yards passing per game and has thrown for 15 TDs.
- Mike Evans is averaging 78.6 yards receiving per game and has four TDs so far this season.
- Leonard Fournette is averaging 50.2 yards rushing per game this season and has one TD.
- The Buccaneers are 9-1 in their last ten games. They are 6-4 against the spread.
- Gronk, LB, Lavonte David and S, Antoine Winfield Jr are all out for tonight’s game.
Eagles:
- The Eagles have the 14th ranked offence and 9th ranked defence.
- Their passing offence is ranked 12th and their rushing offence is ranked 13th.
- On average, the Eagles are scoring 23 points per game and conceding 24.8.
- They are passing for 273.0 yards per game and rushing for 116.4.
- The Eagle’s defence is allowing 209.2 passing yards per game and 142.0 rushing yards per game.
- According to Fantasy ranks, the Eagles are the 4th ranked defence against WRs and the 24th ranked defence against RBs.
- Jalen Hurts is averaging 273 passing yards per game this season and has thrown for seven TDs.
- DeVonta Smith is averaging 62.8 yards receiving per game and has one TD so far this season.
- Quez Watkins is averaging 53.4 yards receiving per game this season.
- TE, Dallas Goedert and OT, Lane Johnson are out for tonight’s game.
The Bucs offence is on fire so far this season, averaging 33 points per game. Since Brady joined, they have registered as many 44+ point games as they did in the 44 years previously. At age 44.. However, on the other side of the ball, the same level of play is not being seen. The Bucs defence are stout against the run but are getting completely destroyed in the passing game. The fact that every QB that has played them so far this season has thrown for at least 275+ passing yards and 2+ TDs is very worrying. Hurts has been up and down, but he is still clocking up decent yardage in the air game with 273 YPG. On the other side of the ball for the Eagles, their passing defence has been excellent, only conceding 209.2 YPG. Their kryptonite has been against the run, allowing 142 rushing yards per game. Therefore, I am looking to exploit each team’s weaknesses in tonight’s Bet Builder. The Eagles can’t stop the run and the Bucs can’t stop the passing game. DeVonta Smith’s play has been building as the year goes on and he should shine against a weak Tampa Bay secondary tonight. For Tampa, Fournette will look to impose himself on a poor Eagles run defence. If you wanted to pump up the odds I would add Quez Watkins over 38.5 yards receiving and if you were asking me who should win this game, I will have to side with Brady.
